Remote Python/Django Backend Developer

Tech stack I use and love: This is a Wagtail CMS built on Django the Python based CMS builder framework. It is hosted using Docker on Fly.io and as a backend developer I complete the frontend tings with Tailwind and HTMX. I also like Kubernetes deployment and CrewAI automation.

Origin story

πŸ‘ΆπŸ» Born in 1980 in Gothenburg, Sweden. πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ As a teenager, focused on finding the meaning of life πŸ§™πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ, then art school πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸŽ¨, then computer science πŸ€–. After that, alternating IT 🚨 (PHP/WordPress) and sales ☎️ (first low-end telemarketing where I became among the 5 best in Sweden a year for the largest telecom company I don't know if that is good but at least it shows that I can conquer hard things, then sold server space for business for many years as the sole sales rep for Swedens most premium hosting company ).

πŸ‘” After about 5+ years as a hosting sales rep for premium hosting (Oderland) I decided to learn Python 🐍 (the best programming language) and then Django πŸ¦„ (the best web development platform). I worked up a portfolio in 2022 of 4 Django project sites that I feel passionate about and are win-win, both of use to me and good as portfolio projects: πŸ“ davidfreiholtz.com (Blog and Portfolio), πŸ’ƒπŸ» socialdancer.org (Find and curate dance events), 🐺 WikingWeather.com (A lunar-solar focused weather app with lighthearted reminders of the old ways), 🐍 PythonJobb.se (A, in the beginning, purely self-serving job security site 😜 to map potential employers.) In 2023, I began part-time work as a Django developer, and shortly thereafter, I got a job offer as a full-time Django developer that turned out to be a "many hats" job that I quite enjoy, for a massive modern Django stack on Kubernetes where I both code in Django, deploy on Kubernetes, and troubleshoot tricky 2nd line tickets. Today, I enjoy working remotely with people all over the world and leaving the sales pitches to others, so I can focus on how tech can solve problems. πŸ€“

❀️‍πŸ”₯ In my spare time I continue to develop my private Django projects now invigorated and enabled to reach further with help of the advent of AI. But my main hobby in life since 2013 is social dancing and more precisely Modern Foxtrot called "Fox" in Sweden and Modern Jive called "Bugg" and a bit of West Coast Swing.
